Since I still haven't been cleared to drive, how about a combo of all that.

No going-back-to-first-gear courses.....otherwise, fast(2nd gear) & flowing(not wide open) with a few technical sections for testing driver restraint and car control.

This "driver restraint" that you speak of. Is that like a 5 point harness or HANS device sort of thing?

Fast doesn't have to mean, "high speed" med to high 2nd gear, can be very fast if you are forced to change your cars direction. and maintain your speed.

I won't mind continuing to be slow on whatever course, but keeping the grades less steep would be helpful to me.

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

I like going fast enough that I'm able to slide through the turns. I like courses that are open because that gives you a variety of lines. To me it makes no sense to have outside cones unless you're restricting the line for some physical obstruction.

Probably a poor choice of wording on my part...

Driver Restraint....as in not overdriving a section or feature that can easily be overdriven....but is glaringly obvious(once it's been overdriven) that slower is faster.
                  Sounds simple enough, huh?

"Fast doesn't have to mean, "high speed" med to high 2nd gear, can be very fast if you are forced to change your cars direction. and maintain your speed."

Right on, Mr Dog. Second gear is plenty fast.
Reaching for 3rd gear is pretty "dog gone" fast for a RX.
I recall one of my first rallycross events (TN Reg event at NSS) where the old dirtdog, in a Subaru, was doing what looked like 90mph through the finish.(!)

Hey bone your correct, a certain sti driver (see above ) likes white knuckle fast, that was a mid range 3rd gear finish easily 80, "fun" but Holley crap to fast.

I hate the outside cones and see no need for them.

Hey Paul I agree about the outside cones, makes for a better course, pick your own line
makes more sense, - - - but - - -every event that I've run outside of this region they use to many cones, with gates, outside cones and tight turns. Including the Nat Challenges. Hopefully over time they will learn what works best.

After thinking about it maybe the outside cones are a good thing. At a stage rally they have rock's, tree's etc. on the outside of the turns. Plus the cones keep the speed down.
