It's official. I'm setting up an unsanctioned, private track day to celebrate my birthday at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway, 46 Pilgrim Lane, Munford, Alabama 36268 on Monday, January 27th.

The 62nd Annual Chuck Schultz Birthday Bash

    Here's the plan:

    $150 per driver.
Minimum of 10 drivers (plus the birthday boy.)
Maximum of 19 drivers (to leave room for ^^.)
Either 15- or 20-minute sessions all day long, 8 AM - Noon and 1 PM - 5 PM, depending on the number of drivers.
Race cars are welcome, but fast ones will not mix with street cars, and all must obey standard track day point-by passing rules.

Lunch can be catered for an additional fee, if the majority of drivers wish to do that. Pricing will be determined when we reach that point. Otherwise, you're on your own for lunch.

Tech inspection, polite driving, and the use of a proper helmet, is each driver's responsibility - This form and common sense will help you remember all the things to check and recheck on your car throughout the day.

Email k4cay.chuck@gmail.com to see if any spots are still available.

No refunds will be made unless you can find someone to take over your spot. If we don't reach the 10-driver minimum in time to reserve the date, your money will be refunded.

    ChuckS

P.S. Before you ask; there will be cake.

I'd go for $150 and better safe than sorry. Happy early birthday!

I did 5 days there this year without an ambulance. Only one, the SCCA event, had one. I personally would not, but, it is your show.

New to this; private track day means what for driver requirements? I've done PDXs there but don't have license (TT) yet. Can I just run on my own? Definitely interested.

No club affiliation is required. A current state-issued driver's license will suffice to begin the day. Behavior on and off track after that will determine your continued participation.

Private track day is exactly that. The renter works under his own rules and those that the track itself imposes.

A PDX is a SCCA Sanctioned event and runs under SCCA rules and the Track rules. A TT license is not required.

A TT license is required for a Level 3 Track Trials or a Level 4 Hill Climb, both sanctioned by SCCA. We will be doing a Track Trials, TT School, and a PDX at TGPR on April 12-13, 2014. There will be more information on that event later.

I need to have 8 more paid entries by the 17th of January to get this on the calendar. I'll be too busy after that to spend any time worrying about getting it going.

Remember, this might be your last chance to check out that LeMons car before the race at Barber, the next weekend!

Chuck, I'd love to come celebrate with you, but the Monday is hurting my chances.

Understood. Mon-Thu rates were the only way to keep the price this low for a relatively small group.

I'm wanting to do it but I don't think I'll have my new roll bar yet and I already took out my other one to sell it. ... Which I keep forgetting to post an ad for.

A hard top is ok for track days. In fact, I've seen miatas on track here with no top and no bar, but we won't do that.
