Paperwork has been sent to get the wheels rolling on Barber. Yours truly will try and take on the lead role for getting this event going since Craig F is way down in south Florida.
A couple of notes on this years event:
This could be a lean year since the runoffs are at Mid Ohio - 2015 the runoffs were at Daytona and the SECs drivers showed up so they could be able to participate. 2017 the Runoffs will be at Indy so we should see a upswing next year. A big plus to help us is.......us - the more workers we sign up means the less I have to get from another source and that price is higher. I will need to "our" count in advance of the event and your name on a list so we can pay you. Last minute additions can throw a wrench into lunch counts and such....so once registration opens please sign up. Getting out on forums/Facebook does help get the word out not just in this area but surrounding areas like the ATL/Tenn/Miss/Kentucky and further out.
Time Trial Drivers - we are trying to address the concerns on passing when mixed with the Road Racer. We will have 3 groups - the first group is TTA which we want the road racer full bodied cars all in that group with unlimited passing. TTB is open wheel with unlimited passing and finally TTC will be TTer's with passing on the straights ONLY with a point by. Always Saturday is the busiest of the TT days and we will wait and see what Sunday brings us.
John Waight is your ALSCCA road race hard working sun o gun and he an Hans Mohen have been working out other details concerning Barber.
One last thing - Atlanta Region SCCA will have a Double SARRC/Dbl SECs/Dbl CCPS/ECR and a PDX on July 23-24 at Road Atlanta. ATL supplies almost all of the Stewards for OUR event and it would be nice to repay that region by supplying workers for their event. TVR is matching (if TVR member) what ATL pays their workers for this event to help. It is up to your region but think about how you can supplement AL workers for that event (plus there is a PDX on Sunday...hint hint.)
