  • Labor Day Race at Barber to return!

This just in! The ALSCCA will once again be racing at Barber Motorsports Park on Labor Day Weekend. This year we have formed a new partnership with the Tennessee Valley Region and the format will be different from last year's event. We will be running a double Regional club race AND a double Time Trial on August 31 to September 1, 2013. A time trial has never held at Barber by the SCCA, and we felt that the timing couldn't be better. We are pleased to offer this exciting track to racer's all across the southeast and beyond; we hope to be able to continue this tradition with your continued support.

We are hard at work developing the schedule, supps, and pricing for this event, but mark your calendars because we plan to make this event our best one yet. Be on the lookout in this forum for more information as it becomes available!

Good job Vince! I intend to run the Barber time trial after getting my license at TGPR in April.

Sorry to be technical, but its not a "double" Time Trial. The TGPR October event will be a "double" Time Trial as its going to be a double points event. The Barber TT is just a regular ol' Time Trial.

The Barber TT will consist of 3 run groups (Large bore Tin Tops, Small bore Tin Tops, and Wings N Things). Each Run Group will get 3 15 min sessions per day.

One unique thing for the TT'ers is that they will be paddocked with all the road racers so if you like looking at fine machinery you will get the chance.

You will also get the chance to see a lot of good racing

This is not like the one day TT event at Road Atlanta in the past 3 years.

If you think about it, you can qualify for SEDIV Championship Class wins by doing the 2 TGPR TT events and the Barber TT.

I bet the road racers will enjoy looking at all that fine TT machinery. Polished up, no curb rashes, or beat in fenders. I bet they will be wishing their cars looked half as good as the TT cars.

The term "double" doesn't apply to points. It just means that it will be run on both days instead of just one.

Very excited about this event and so glad that I am able to be a part of it!

And I'll bet the TT drivers will wish their cars were as fast as the RR cars regardless of looks

...and the Hill Climb guys that visit will think "bunch of sissies" as they peruse the paddock and push their bits in a wheel barrow...

I'm not going to argue the use of the term "double" as it relates to time trials as compared to club racing. But I'll resign to the authority of the club race chair!

Ha ha, so says the man who has very little time at Barber...

Chuck has no problems getting around Barber and his car is very well sorted. My money would go with him in that race...lol

I'll argue the term "Double" in regards to a TT event. TT events are 2 day events with only 1 sanction number. Always have been. Day one is a "sort-it-out-learn-a-line-set-your-car-up" kinda day and then layout your best time on Sunday morning. This is why I believe the one day events don't draw entrants. The term double in TT can only be applied to points. The Barber event is not a double points event.

A DOUBLE SARRC is just that, 2 separate events with 2 different sanction numbers.
Day 1 is a qualify session and a race, Day 2 is a qualify session and a race.

Mark, Chuck has some kind of evil under the hood of that angelic white E30 of his.
It pulls like no other. Scary. I'd bet you'd get him in the corners though, he's slow there. (j/k Chuck)

On a side note, "double" in regards to hillclimb can mean it takes double the amount of testicular fortitude to drive a hill that is double the danger factor as a plain old flat track. It also elicits a few double dog dares. Which leads to comments in the paddock of a 4 nut hairpin or a 6 nut sweeper.
