  • F500 MC Engine Proposal

The revised motorcycle engine proposal for F500 is included in this month’s Fastrack. ( https://www.scca.com/documents/Fastr...strack-aug.pdf ) In short, any of the major motorcycle manufacturers' 600cc production engines (unmodified with an inlet restrictor and a weight penalty) would be a legal OPTION for the F500 class - historically a 2-stroke snowmobile drive train.

As many of you know, I've already built one and have raced it successfully a couple of times this year (in a regional-only F600 class) and it is AWESOME! It gives folks a 4-stroke option that us southern boys can find parts for and help with. (not many snowmobile experts this far south.) … oh and it SOUNDS so sweet…

The CRB is asking for member input. There are a good number of folks that still love the 2-stroke and are hard-core opposed to this allowance. But as long as we maintain parity with restrictors and additional weight, I don't see why it shouldn't be an OPTION. (and at last count 22 F600s were being built, so a good number of folks seem to agree that it's a good idea...)

So.... a favor, if you would... I'd appreciate it if you'd send the CRB a short note expressing support even if you’ve already sent a response to the earlier proposal. This is a revised proposal with a smaller restrictor size and specified weight. Anyone with a valid membership number is allowed and encouraged to respond.
