Greeting,
The 12th Annual Petit Le Mans is coming to Road Atlanta on September 26th. Volunteers are needed for Flagging and Communicating for practice Tuesday, September 22 and each day right through the big race on Saturday. If you haven't registered yet please do so as soon as possible at www.motorsportreg.com. All license levels are welcome however regional license holders should have their regional flag chief send me an e-mail to let me know your experience. Why do we do this? Because there are many experienced corner marshals out there who hold a Regional License and we need these experienced people to assist. This event is not a place for new F&C volunteers to get training, there just isn't time for others to provide this service. Atlanta Region Regional license holders, if you plan to work the Petit, please check in with me also.
RACE EVENTS DURING THE WEEK:
In addition to the Petit Le Mans we will have:
Star Mazda
IMSA Lights
Atlantics
GT Challenge
Touring Challenge
Patrone GT3 Cup
Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup
If you've been to the Petit before you know this a a good time but also that they are hectic and always challenging. Those who have never been here before, be ready for a great event, great cars, lots and lots of excited spectators and again some hard work.
REGISTRATION:
The exact location of the Registration tent is still somewhat unknown. It may by out side by the Will-Call/Registration center for Road Atlanta or may be moved where the old Road Atlanta registration house is located behind the Barber School building, and where the cart rentals have been. We are hoping for the latter since this affords us some privacy and access to the track from the gate just inside the Main gate on the right. Registration times will be adhered to I will post as soon as I have all the schedules. Volunteers will, if needed, receive one guest pass during the registration process.
WEATHER:
Yes, Atlanta has weather, all kinds, especially in September. It might be in the 90's one day but can change drastically from day to day and day to night. Watch the weather forecasts and come prepared for hot, cold, sun and that other wet stuff. I will update also as we get closer to the week.
CAMPING:
As in the past the "Lower 40" outside of turn 1 will be reserved for the Volunteers who wish to camp.
SCHEDULE:
I have not seen a schedule posted as yet on IMSA's web site. Please keep watch and as soon as I get something even a little bit firm, I will send out a schedule for our meetings and gathering.
ASSIGNMENTS:
If you sent me an e-mail with your request, I have saved them. I can only say that we will consider your request when making assignments but cannot promise anything.
I am also attaching a document you can return with information and any requests. Once the assignments have been made it will not be possible to make changes once the event is started. I am sure you understand the difficulties this could cause. Deadline for any requests is September 3rd.
