Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • Helmet shapes - long oval needed

I ordered up a RaceQuip SA2010 helmet for auto-x and more specifically the upcoming BMW track day at Barber. It arrived and does not fit me well at all. I measured my head exactly as they recommended and I fell right in the middle of the large size range. The helmet is super snug on my forehead and the pads don't even touch my cheeks. I had this same issue when trying to find a motorcycle helmet and the only motorcycle helmet that has ever worked for me is an Arai Signet GT, which is Arai's "long oval" shell shape. I've gone through two of these and they've been great.

So my question is: what auto helmet is comparable to an Arai "long oval"?

The only mention I've found of a longer helmet front to rear was the Simpson Voyager. I might order one up and have it shipped to see if it fits. I'm just going to get tired of paying return shipping on a bunch of helmets.

I looked on Arai's page and unfortunately their auto helmets do not come in different shell shapes. They do however have different thickness pads so you can buy a size larger that will fit front to rear and then add thicker pads for the cheek area.

Do any of the "cheaper" helmets have this option?

The cheapest Arai I can find is about $800
