Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • Ham Radio Learning/Licensing Opportunity

Many of you know that we could always use more licensed Amateur Radio operators for the Crow Mountain Hillclimb. If you've been thinking about looking into this, here's an opportunity to get enough training in one day to take a test the same day and have a license issued within a week or so:

    To All:

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. As we approach 2012, I have
had a request to pass this information on from Birmingham ARA Group:

A 'same day instruction/testing' program developed by Jim Rogers and
the ARA Group for a Technician Class ExamCram on Saturday, January 14,
2012, will be held beginning at 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. VE Testing for all
classes of license will follow at 3:00 PM.

The location is Artists on the Bluff, 571 Park Ave., Hoover, AL 35226.

Your are encouraged to pre-register by contacting w4atk@arrl.net or by
    phone Jim Rogers, 205-982-9466.

If you know of anyone who wishes to get into Amateur Radio, this is a
good opportunity. Get them pre-registered with Jim as we need more hams
    (especially young hams).

I am looking forward to 2012 with the intent of meeting more members of
the Alabama Section. The new year has a line up of great hamfests, so
get out and support these events.
