We come to the events for the sport and stay for the people. A trophy at the end of the year is just icing on the cake. I like drops in case there's a conflicting event out of town that I may want to attend or a family thing. Plus, sometimes, and there are times, that you just don't feel like getting up at the crack of dawn to go stand in a parking lot and sweat your tail off. Drops are good to have.Leave a comment:

What if there were 17 races instead of 10/11? What if we dropped 7 events? What if ...
It doesn't matter. The rules are the rules and people will plan for them as they see fit. Want to show up to all events and have the best chance at the most points, even with drops? Do it. Want to plan to miss an event because you can get away with it? Sure. Want to only show up for one event and let Heath think he's fast all season? Why not ...
As long as everyone knows the rules at the start and are all playing by the same rules, it doesn't matter. This is why F1, NASCAR, V8 Supercars, Grand-Am, etc all have different rule sets and points systems. They don't all have to match, and they all work. They are consistent within themselves and that's what matters.

I hope this didn't branch from my post in RAW championship. I was just saying it kills the chance of winning when you miss, not that I was complaining saying you should be able to drop. I was just stating a fact. Not that I could win even if I went to them all

"Yearly championship points" is just that...a cumulative total of points calculated within the framework set forth at the start of the year. It might have drops or it might not...and I really don't care either way. All that really matters is that the framework is published before the competition season begins and does not change through the season.
I have a girlfriend in college that only gets to graduate once in a lifetime. I can't tell her no I can't come because I have an autox. I personally like the idea of having a drop, but won't complain if there isn't any. It just defeats the purpose of competing for a championship when you have a career or family that takes up one Saturday that is far more important than an autox. The bold underlined portion above is exactly what I mean. Most agree we don't do this for a living. If not for our way of making a living, we couldn't do this anyways. So that is first priority. You can't expect someone to make every event a year. And if it's based on participation/attendance, the points shouldn't be as spread out at the top. You get half points for finishing 3 places behind a guy. Maybe 2 tenths of a second. I participated a lot more than Jordan Taylor(came to 1,one,uno event) and he was beating me until points 8..... My attendance was 700% in relation to him. See how attendance doesn't really add up there??? So if attendance is going to weigh in so much, point spread up top needs to be decreased between finishing positions IMO.
I won't complain, it's not that big of a deal. I was not complaining, griping in the RAW champ thread either. Just thinking man it sucks I missed one lol. I do this for fun and bragging rights. We spend a crap ton more money than you could possibly make in winnings. I spend the RAW championship winnings in gas money going to the events and coming home LOL. PAX money in routine maintenance. Don't even talk about 18" tires... goodbye moneysssss lol. A drop helps the spirits though and keeps the competition tighter and more fun.
Fact is everyone isn't going to be happy. Heck, I'm just trying to beat C and Sara and maybe give John, Darryl and Brandon some competition next year lol.Leave a comment:
