  • PDX Thank You's

I'd like to thank both the PDX instructors and students. A wonderful and easy group to work with. They made my job easy. The instructors: Robert Russom and David Leonard (ALSCCA), R.J. and A.J. Schramm from ATL, Clayton Panel (TVR) and Mike Breakey (TnR?) who was also competing in the TT. We had some veteran "students" who used the event as a T&T and some with a little experience and lastly, the rookies. The vets were checking on the rookies. Everyone was helping each other. I saw instructors in the bleachers and fence hanging with their students. Also, there was a good discussion on what made the perfect track car, other than the Miata of course. We all remember our first time on track so hopefully there were good memorys made, some future TT and road racers created.

Thanks Mike for heading it up. I've done a few HPDE's for twice the cost at much "bigger" tracks, but this weekend was no question my best experience yet. AJ did a great job as my instructor, both riding along and then coming by on Sunday to make sure everything was still going well after I was signed off for solo.

A big complaint of mine at "that other club" events has been the racers who get allowed out in PDX/HPDE sessions and then don't want to play by the rules with the new drivers. Even though we had a racer or two join us from time to time, I didn't experience any of that on track nonsense all weekend.

Perhaps the biggest compliment is that I never heard a single grumble about trains or point-bys.

Great job by all the workers and the other drivers!

Thanks Rod. Very interesting observations. I know that some of the racers who were slotted into the PDX group said, without being asked, that they would watch out and play by the rules. Way too much fun...next time maybe they'll let me drive.

I had a great time and want to thank both the workers and the instructors. This was my 2nd PDX event and it was very educational (i.e. much improved lines).

A few more of these (and some $$ for safety equipment) and I will be ready to do the novice TT's.
